GENERIC LETTER 83-28, ITEM 1.1 POST TRIP REVIDI By letter dated June 2,1989, the Louisiana Power and Light Company (LP&L) ,

provided a response to the abcve Generic Letter item for Waterford 3 by  ;.g ,_,

establishing a Post Trip Review Task Group to review unscheduled reactor ]

trips. We have reviewed this response and the LP&L response in a letter dated October 15, 1985 and we find them acceptable to resolve the deficiencies noted in our Safety Evaluation transmitted to LP&L by letter dated October 3,1985.

The LP&L procedure extends the independent assessment to any unscheduled reactor trip and goes beyond cur criteria for the group to examine only those y, for which a cause cannot readily be determi.ied. In the event a change to L procedure may be conternplated, our criteria remains acceptable. Changes to

, the Task Group may also be made by providing for similar authority and experience.

l On the basis of the abcVe, we find the LP&L response to Generic Letter 83-28, Item 1.1 to be acceptable. This closes the ection under TAC 57698. We have also recorded your implementation date as July 17, 1989 as noted in the June 2, 1989 LP&L letter.
