. Technical Specification Amendment Demonstration Rod Control Cluster Assemblies (RCCAs)

This letter contains a proposed amendment to the Technical Specifications'for

-Facility Operating License Nos. NPF-35 and NPF-52 for Catawba Units 1 and 2.

The attached request will allow a demonstration program to be conducted at Catawba. This demonstration program will demonstrate the interface compatibility'and successful operating experience with Babcock & Wilcox Fuel Company (BWFC) supplied 17x17 RCCAs and define and compare the operational wear characteristics of wear resistant RCCA coatings and conventional RCCA-clad materials. contains the marked up page of the current Technical Specifications reflecting the requested changes. Attachment 2 contains the Discussion, No Significant Hazards Analysis and Environmental Impact Statement. The analysis is included pursuant to 10 CFR 50.91 and it concludes

.that the proposed amendment does not involve significant hazards considerations.
