This memo provides LLWM comments on replacement of the 766 data system with the Master Inspection and Planning System (MIPS). The 766 system provided important information on any deviations'or violations found during LLW inspections. The data field provided descriptive text in the 766 system sufficient to adequately describe waste form problems in. detail. We understand that MIPS will limit this field to 240 characters, far less than what was allowed in the 766. system and significantly fewer characters than is normally used in reporting inspection deviations and violations-(see an example of this type of information from the FY-88 766 data system reporting, attached). We are therefore requesting that the number of characters available for descriptive text be expanded to allow continued descriptive reporting of waste deviations and violations.
