McGuire Nuclear Station, Unit 1 Docket No.-50-369 NRC Bulletin No. 88-11 Pressurizer Surge Line Thermal Stratification Gentlemen:
Pursuant to the' requirements of NRC Bulletin 88-11, Pressurizer-Surge Line Thermal Stratification,.the McGuire Nuclear Station Unit 1 Pressurizer Surge Line was inspected in March 1989 during an outage related to steam. generator
~
inspection and repairs. The inspection included'a visual examination of pipe welds, exterior pipe surfaces, rupture restraints, and all associated pipe supports. The exterior pipe surface was carefully examined at each rupture restraint location to detect any contact. No damage to the Pressurizer Surge
.Line was discovered. The only discrepancy noted was an out of specification hydraulic snubber setting. This problem had been previously identified lduring unit construction. The snubber had been determined to be operable at the' time of initial discovery. However', design drawings had not been updated to reflect the out of specification hydraulic' snubber setting. A Duke Power
.. Station Problem Report was initiated in April 1989 to revise the' design drawings.
