inakaga appaarx to he from three to four pin holes and is estimatesi tFbe loss than 0.5 gallons per hour. The leakage is in an unisolatable section of line approximately four feet f rom the reactor vessel, and the pin hulus are approximate' 74 feet obove the top of: the rnactor core. See the attache.d sketch showing the piping configuration. .

The licensee pluns to ultrasculcally examine both loops of all of the core spresy piping in the c*rywell for other indications beginning Tuesday, March 11, 1980.

Unit 2 is in a refueling outage. and IL 1s not yet known how long this will

" extend the outogc.

Neither the licensee nur Region III are planning a news release at this time.

The State of Iowa is being notified.

The Resident Inspector was notified of this e.ve.nt at 4:30p.m. on March 8,1980.
