' INSERVICE (ESTING PROGRAM REVIEW FOR POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT N% 1 AND 2 (TAC NOS. 51301/51302)
Recently,.the' U. S. nuclear Regulatory Commission iissued guidance regarding
.the inservice testing program for light water reactor operating licenses.

This guidance is found in Generic Letter 89-04, entitled " Guidance on Developing Acceptable Inservice Testing Programs," and is dated April 3, 1989.
This generic letter approves currently submitted inservice testing program relief requests for licensees who have not received ~a safety evaluation report provided that they (1) review their most recently submitted inservice testing programs and implementation procedures against the positions delineated in the generic letter and (2) within 6 months of the date of the generic letter confirin in writing their conformance with the stated positions of the generic letter. By addressing the technical areas ~ identified in the generic letter, the-staff has concluded that certain significant deficiencies in the inservice testing program and in the inservice testing program relief requests
-will be corrected. One should refer to the generic letter for additional information on Commission requirements.
Consequently, the Commission will discontinue its review of your latest revision (revision 3)ofthePointBeachInserviceTestingProgram,as
-detailed in a letter dated August 26,.1985. This will complete this action item and will close out the aforementioned TAC numbers. The Commission awaits your response to the generic letter regarding your inservice testing f
program.
