evaluated by the team subsequent to the inspection as. documented;in the

insp.ection report. A followup discussion of' inspection findings and the status

of.open items was held by telephone;on' March 31,.1989, with the Acting Manager

'

of Nuclear Licensing and Safety.

ii. TheLNRC effort involved an assessment of remaining unresolved'itemsiidentified

during'a Safety System Functional Inspection conducted over-the period May 11

through-June 19, 1987, and documented in NRC Inspection' Report 50-298/87-10.

Areas examined during'the inspection' included your detailed. evaluation of.these

. items and corrective actions taken. Within these areas, the inspection

consisted of: selective examination of procedures and representative records,

interviews.with personnel,~and observations by the NRC inspectors.

. inspection. findings are: documented in the enclosed inspection report.

As=a result of this inspection, it was found that certain of your activities

appeared to be in violation of NRC requirements. lThe' violation involved a

failure'to maintain design flow rate in two. safety related fan coil units

.(paragraph 3).

The NRC staff. reviewed yore corrective actions with regard to

this violation during this inspection and concluded that< adequate' corrective

action.has been.taken.

Therefore no response is required.

In addition, in

raccordance with Section V.G.1. of the NRC's Enforcement Policy (10 CFR Part 2,

Aopendix.C), no citation is'being issued for the' violations described in

paragraphs.9 and 12 of the enclosed inspection report.

This decision is based

on the safety signific uce of the individual issues and on your existing and

planned corrective actions.

Paragraph 8 describes information, to be provided by General Electric, that

indicated that faulted switchgear would not damage other q uipment.
