SUBJECT:
Notification of a Delay for Implementing Corrective Action for a Deficiency Cited in IER 50-285/86-20 Omaha Public Power District (0 PPD) responded to Deficiency 285/8620-15 regarding development of procedures for dose assessment to consider scenarios where a release of radioactivity to the environment was iminent by committing to develop a manual calculational method for dose assessment.
This letter is to inform you of the current status of this commitment.
A manual calculational method of dose assessment was developed.
During the review process it was determined that the method generated results that were very conservative. As discussed in information Notice 85-52, utilization of the results could result in negative impacts from unnecessary protective actions.
It is anticipated that a better method can be developed, reviewed and approved by November 15, 1987.
