Thank you for your letter dated August 11, 1987, which included Commonwealth Edison's Exercise Scope and Objectives for the Byron Station Emergency Preparedness Exercise, scheduled for October 14, 1987.

We noted several discrepancies in your Scope of Participation. The Scope
-indicated a daytime event, but objective 4a specified a nighttime period.
It did not indicate if the exercise is to be full, partial or utility only, or the level of participation for the State and counties. Activation of the JPIC was not indicated although the JPIC is part of objectives 2d, 4a, 5a and b.
We understand, based on telephone conversation between Mr. H. Peterson of my staff and Mr. J. Bowman of your staff on August 26, 1987, that the above items will be corrected.
We find the scope and objectives of your exercise, with the inclusion of I
the above corrections to the' Scope of Participation, to be acceptable.
l When we receive the entire scenario package, we will review it and provide

our comments to Mr. J. Bowman by telephone.
