Gentlemen:

Thank you for your letters of November 23, 1987 and December 7,

1987, in response to our letter, dated October 23, 1987.

We have

reviewed your response and have no further questions at this time

relative to Notice of Violation (NOV) Items A and B and the

)

Notice of Deviation.

We will review the implementation of your

corrective and preventive actions during future inspections to

l

determine if full compliance has been achieved and will be

maintained.

,

)

We will complete our review of your response to NOV Item C when

j

the additional information is received., duc by January 15, 1988.

'

Concerning the corrective steps taken for NOV Item B, you stated

that,

...any undersized weld segment which does not exceed 5/8"

j

"

in length is acceptable."

We interpret this acceptance criteria

j

as meaning for any circumferential weld length the cumulative

total of fillet weld size less than 1/8" will not exceed 5/8" in

j

length.

If this understanding is incorrect, please advise,

i

Sincerely,

j
