Fluid Flow Analysis - Peach Bottom, Unit 2 This letter forwards the results of an NRC Region-I sponsored fluid flow analysis of the Peach Bottom Unit 2 feed and condensate system.
~h is analysis was performed for the purpose of assessing the presence of flow patterns that could cause damage to fluid system piping or components in the manner of the Surry pipe rupture which occurred in December, 1986.
The enclosed consultant's report identifies some feed and condensate system locations where wear may be occurring; however, it concludes that no flow patterns would be expected to lead to failures similar to that of Surry.
However, it should be noted that this technique is currently under evaluation
(
by the NRC and does not imply that alternate examinations of these systems should not be implemented.
