Subject: Inspection No. 50-213/87-20
A routine inspection of the radiation protection program at the Haddam Neck ;
Station was conducted by Dr. S. Sherbini on July 20-24, 1987.. The inspection
focused on preparations for the current outage and radiological controls for
ongoing outage related work. Part of the inspection was also devoted to a
review of your program for the control of " hot particles", as well as a review
of'a personnel contamination incident that occurred on July 10, 1987.
Inspection findings were discussed with Mr. D. Miller.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were identified and no re-
sponse to this letter is. required. The preparations for the outage were found
to'have been well planned. The radiation protection program in place for the
outage was found to be sound. Our review found that additional action is-
needed to fully establish and implement a program for control of hot
particles. Specific items are discussed in the enclosed inspection report.
