1 Q 1etters dated July 10, and July 31, 1987, Portland General Electric j Cos::,;any (PGE) reported observed pipe thinning in the Trojan feedwater 4 system, and provided discussions regarding pipe replacement efforts, ,

determination of thinning rates, and safety of operation through the 1988  !

operating cycle.

l As a result of the observed pipe thinning, the NRC established a Pipe Wall Thinning Task Force, that visited Trojan on July 22 - 23, 1987.

Bared upon the task force's observations and a review of your July 31, 1987 submittal, we have determined that reasonable assurance has been provided for safe operation of the Trojan feedwater system through the end of the 1988 operating cycle.
