Dear Dr. Grace:

On July 15, 1987, North Anna Unit 1 had a steam generator tube rupture in the "C"

steam generator.

The unit was shut down in accordance with plant emergency operating procedures with a

minimum release of radioactivity.

An " Alert" was declared based on the station emergency plan.

Subsequent investigation has revealed a catastrophic failure of a steam generator tube above the seventh support plate on the. cold leg side.

You are cordially invited to attend a-presentation by Virginia Power that will provide a better understanding of the event and subsequent investigation results.

The presentation will be given on August 28, 1987 at the locations identified on Attachment I.

An agenda for the presentation is provided as Attachment II for your information.
