This is to acknowledge receipt of Revision 3 of the Byron Nuclear Generating Station Emergency Plan Annex, as transmitted to Region III by letter dated July 24, 1987. These revisions were received in our office on July 29, 1987.
We have reviewed the changes to the Byron Nuclear Generating Station Emergency Plan Annex and detemined that they are consistent with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.54(q) and do not decrease the effectiveness of the emergency plan.
These changes are, therefore, acceptable.
Please be reminded that 10 CFR 50.54(q) requires NRC approval of any changes l
to your emergency plans which may decrease their effectiveness. However, if your safety review assures no decrease in emergency preparedness effectiveness, then such changes may be made without prior NRC approval.
In all cases, you must furnish copies of each change to the NRC, in accordance with l
10 CFR 50.54(q). Also, any changes to the Emergency Plan Implementing Procedures should be made in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR Part 50, 1
