4 MONDILY OPERATING REI' ORT - MARCH 1987 At the Mginning of the report period, Oyster Creek was shutdown for repairs to Source Range Monitor (SRM) and Intermediate Range Monitor (IRM) drive units and replacement of ten (10) SRM/IRM detectors.

Following completion of repairs, reactor startup commenced on March 9.

Criticality was achieved and plant heatup continued to normal operating pressure.

The reactor mode switch was placed in the "RUN" position on Mrch 10 and the generator was placed on-line.

Reactor power was slowly increased to a maximum generator load of 664 MWe, which was reached on March 14.

Fu)1 power was maintained for the balance of the report period except for three (3) brjef powet reductions of less than 70 MWe to support turbine g"

valve testing, facilitate repairs to a main condenser circulating water disc h rge valve and ininimum generation order issued by GPU System Operations.

1. General Electric Fuel Assemblies - fuel design and performance analysis methods have been approved by the NRC.

New operating procedures, if necessary, will be submitted at a later date.

2. Exxon Fuel Assemblies - no major changes have been made nor are there any anticipated.
