d DAVIS-BESSE NUCLEAR POWER STATION SALP 6 Weekly Report p For Weekly Period Ending August 24, 1987 This Executive Summary is pnvided to help in maintaining up-to-date cognizance of those indicators of regulatory interest and events being tracked by Toledo Edison for trending of performance during the current i
SALP period. These indicators and events were developed using some of the
'I NRC recommended performance indicators. The previous-SALP (SALP 5)-
covered the period November 1, 1986 through July 31, 1987 and the current period began on August 1, 1987.
The Executive Summary provides a brief description of the event (s)/ action (s) which occurred during the week and a cumulative total for each regulatory performance indicator category on a weekly basis. Additionally, commitment status data for NRC open items related to Licensee Event Reports and Inspection Reports is included. A cumulative listing of individual events / actions with the most recent being listed first will be provided monthly under a separate report.
i Should you have any questions regarding the enclosure, please contact George Honma, Compliance Supervisor, Nuclear Licensing Division, at (419) 249-2309.

EXECUTIVE
SUMMARY
Events / Actions During Period of 08/18/87 to 08/24/87 The Unit operated at approximately 100 percent power until Friday, August 21, j
1987 at 10:48 p..,
when an electrical disturbance (lightning strike) on the grid resulted in a turbine generator trip and subsequent reactor trip. Reactor Protection System initiaticn was from the Anticipatory Reactor Trip System (ARTS). The turbine tripped on high vibration caused by an out-of-phase condition.
Reactor startup commenced at approximately 2:00 a.m. on August 23, 1987.
The turbine generator was synchronized online at 11:18 a.m.
On Monday, August' 24, 1987, the Unit was back to 100 percent power at approximately 6:00 p.m.
Three Technical Specification Limiting Condition for Operation Action Statements were unintentionally entered during the week (Page 3, j
Occurrence Nos. 3, 4 and 5).
