Dear Dr. Grace:
On July 15, 1987, North Anna Unit 1 had a steam generator tube rupture in the "C"
The unit was shut down in accordance with plant emergency operating procedures with a
minimum release of radioactivity.
An " Alert" was declared based on-the station emergency plan.
Subsequent investigation has
, revealed a catastrophic failure of a steam generator tube above the seventh support plate on the cold leg side.
You are cordially invited to attend a presentation by Virginia Power that will provide a better understanding of the event and subsequent investigation results.
The presentation will be given on August 28, 1987 at the locations identified on Attachment I.
