Consumers Power Company's completion of a project to upgrade Nuclear Operations Department Standards vis-a-vis QA Program requirements has resulted in identification of several areas where clarification appears necessary, either in the text of our Quality Assurance Program Description for Operational Nuclear' Power Plants, CPC-2a, or in the exceptions / clarifications of.its Appendix. These clarifications are necessary to avoid possible misappl1 cation of requirements, and to preclude both internal and outside misunderstandings of Consumers Power Company's position with regard to these items. Also included is an item resulting from a recent minor organization change affecting'the Nuclear Assurance Department (already partially addressed in Revision 6 of CPC-2A, which was issued internally 6/15/87). The attached matrix identifies each proposed alterat1on to CPC-2A (Revision 6),' presents the reason _the change is desirable, and explains the basis for concluding the program, as revised, continues to satisfy the criteria of 10CFR50, Appendix B.
Since some of these changes may be considered a reduction in our previous commitments, NRC approval is required in accordance with 10CFR50.54(a).
