Subject: Inspection No. 50-322/87-12

A routine safety inspection of your emergency preparedness program was conducted

by Mr. Conkl'n and Mr. Tuccinardi of this office June 22-25, 1987 at the

Shoreham Nuclear Power Station, Wading River, New York. Discussions of our

findings were held by Mr. Conklin with Mr. S. Skorupski and other members of

your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I

inspection report which is enclosed. Within these areas, the inspection

consisted of selective examination of procedures and representative records,

interviews with personnel and observations of the inspectors.

Within the scope of this inspection no violations were observed. No reply to

this letter is required. Your cooperation with us in this matter is appreciated.
