On~ July 26,1998, the NRC completed an integrated inspection at your Oyster Creek

reactor facility. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.

During the six-week period covered by this inspection report, your conduct of activities at
the Oyster Creek facility was generally characterized by safety-conscious operations,
sound engineering and maintenance practices, and careful radiological work controls.

You have established an adequate program for the sampling, analysis and assessment of

personnel exposure to airborne radionuclides. However, a programmatic weakness was .
l.
identified regarding the lack of reverification of the basis documents for this area since
i
1993. Your annual review of the radiation protection program was adequate. Weakness
(
in the scope and depth of the summary self-assessment for 1997 was noted; however, the

sum total of self-assessments and ' safety assessments met the requirements of 10 CFR

20.1101.

in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter
