We are continuing our review of your application to Facility License No. R-127 for permission to dismantle the facility and dispose of the component parts submitted by letter dated November 10, 1986, as supplemented. During our .

review of the information you had submitted, a need for additional information -

and clarification has arisen. Please provide a response to the enclosed Request for Additional Information within 30 days of the date of this letter.

Following receipt of the additional information we will continue our evaluation of your reouest. If you have any questions regarding this review, please contact me at (301) 492-8207.

\ REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION MEMPHIS STATE UNIVERSITY DOCKET NO. 50-538 A nuclear reactor may not be possessed by an unlicensed person. However, an unlicensed person may possess the component parts of a reactor. Please certify that Memphis State University (MSU) will release to the Institute for Resource Management (IRM) only component parts. Also, IRM must certify that (1) they will not assemble the component parts prior to receiving a-NRC license, (2) that if they transfer the component parts to another person, that the responsibility to receive a NRC license before assembly will be explained, and (3) the component parts will not be exported without prior receipt of the.
