TRANSMITTAL OF SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT ON FERMI-2 CONFORMANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF TASK ITEM 2.1 0F NRC GENERIC LETTER 83-28 (TAC NO. 59618)

Detroit Edison was required by NRC Generic Letter 83-28 Item 2.1 (Part 1) to confirm that all components whose functioning is required to trip the reactor l are identified as safety-related on all plant documentation and in information handling systems that are used to control all activities performed on the safety-related equipment. With respect to Item 2.1 (Part 2), Detroit Edison i was required to confirm that they have established on interface with either i the NSSS or with the vendors of each of the components of the Reactor Trip System, including the periodic communication between Detroit Edison and the vendor of positive feedback which confirms receipt of transmittals of l technical information. The staff has reviewed Detroit Edison's response to 1

both Parts 1 and 2 of Item 2.1 and find your responses to be acceptable. The I staff's SERs relative to Fermi-2's acceptable compliance with Item 2.1 (Part 1) l and Item 2.1 (Part 2) are contained in Enclosures (1) and (2), of this letter, l respectively.  ;
