Gentlemen:
This refers to the special inspection conducted by Messrs. W. C. Seidle,
J. R. Boardman, and J. I. Tapia of this office during the period November 2-6,
1987, of activities authorized by NRC Operating License DPR-40 for the Fort
Calhoun Station, and to the discussion of our findings with you and members of
your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
The area examined during the inspection was licensee corrective actions in
I
response to water intrusion into the Instrument Air System. Within this area,
the inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures and
representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the NRC
inspectors. The inspection findings are documented in the enclosed inspection
report.
During this inspection, it was found that certain activities under your license
appeared to be in violation of NRC requirements. The violation reported in
paragraph 2.c of the enclosed inspection report does not require a written
response at this time.
Your response to this matter will be addressed in
separate correspondence.
Should you have any questions concerning this inspection, we will be pleased to
discuss them with you.
