SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-298/98-04
Dear Mr. Horn:
From May 31 through July.11,1998, an inspection was conducted at your Cooper Nuclear
Station reactor facility. The results of this inspection were discussed with your staff. The
enclosed report presents the scope and results of that inspection.
During the 6-week period covered by this inspection, conduct of activities at the Cooper facility
was generally characterized by safety-conscious operations, good radiological controls, and
appropriate maintenance. We also noted examples of good technical performance by
engineering staff.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter, its
enclosure (s), and your response will be placed in the NP.C Public Document Room (PDR).
Should you have any questions concerning this inspection, we will be pleased to discuss them
with you.
