reportable events which occurred between October 10 and:15, 1987. Within these

areas, the inspection consisted of selective examination of. procedures-and

representative records, interviews with personnel,'anJ observations'by.the NRC

inspectors. The inspection findings are documented in the' enclosed inspection

During this-inspection, sixfunresolvedtitems were identified. These unresolved

items. involve issues'that require additional review.by;the NRC staff andLare

. considered significant NRC' concerns.

Four of these unresolved items involve.

l

'the series of incidents"which' occurred between October 10-15,.1987, during

~ second refueling outage. The remaining two unresolved items involve the

-

operability of the Contro1~ Room Ventilation Isolation $ystem and the setpoints

!

of the pressurizer power operated relief valves. .The problems involving the

setpoints of the pressurizer relief valves has been a continuing problem at

WCGS.. This issue, as well_as all of these matters require prompt attention as

l

they may result in escalated enforcement action at the completion of ongoing -

'NRC inspction efforts. Some of these matters, including four additional

i

issues characterized as open items in the enclosed report require resolution

prior to WCGS returning to operation.
