Gentleman:

This refers to the preoperational security inspection conducted by

Messrs. T. J. Madeda and D. E. Funk, Jr. of this office on November 16-18,

1987, of activities at Braidwood Nuciear Power Station, Unit 2 authorized

by NRC Construction Permit No. CPPR-133 and to the discussion of our findings

with Mr. E. E. Fitzpatrick and other members of your staff at the conclusion

of the inspection.

The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during

.the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective

examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and

interviews with personnel.

No violations of NRC requirements regarding Unit 2 preoperational activities

were identified during the course of this inspection. Our review showed that

the security program was adequately implemented and is effective to support

licensing of Unit 2.

Areas examined during this inspection concern a subject matter which is exempt

from disclosure according to Part 73, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations,

Section 73.21(c)(2). This information must be handled and protected in

accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 73.21. Consequently, our report of

this inspection will not be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
