This letter provides an update of the Petition you submitted pursuant to Title 10'of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Section 2.206 dated November 25,1996, and an amendment to the Petition dated December 23,1996, submitted by you on behalf of the Citizens Awareness

. Network and the Nuclear Information and Resource Service (Petitioners). The Petition was

l. submitted to the Commissioners of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and to the l NRC Executive Director for Operations. The Petition requested that the NRC take actions . l t

regarding the nuclear facilities that Northeast Utilities (the licensee) operates in Connecticut. 1 A Partial Director's Decision (DD-97-21) was provided by letter dated September 12,1997, and i a followup correction letter was sent on October 20,1997. As we noted in the partial decision, t a portion of Request 3 is deferred since the NRC investigations are ongoing relating to any possible wrongdoing by the licensee. A Final Director's Decision will be provided when the NRC completes it's investigations.
