This refers to the special allegation review inspection conducted by
Mr. G. L. Pirtle of this office on September 1 through November 18, 1987, of
an allegation pertaining to inadequate pre-employment screening in 1982 for a i
nuclear plant employee at-the Zion Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1 and 2,
authorized by NRC Operating Licenses No. DPR-39 and No. DPR-48 and to the
discussion of our findings with Mr. P. Laird and the other members of your
staff on November 18, 1987.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during ,
the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective 1
examination of procedures, records, and interviews with personnel.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
inspection and the allegation was not substantiated.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Com.nission's regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in tha NRC
Public Document Room.
