BOMB THREAT SITUATION At 0745 on 9/2/75, the Chicago Regional Office wits notified by Zion Station of a suspected bomb threat. Commonwealth Edison reported that at 0110, 9/1/75, a l conversation was intercepted on portable citizen band radios used by the protective force. A male voice from an undeter,ined source was heard to say, "What time does the bomb go off ?" Again at 0120 a male voice was heard to say, " Watch out for the (TV) camera at the reactor." Based on this suspicious conversation, the Zion emergency plan for bomb threats was put into action. Additional guards were called in and patrol frequency was increased. During a patrol at tHe far west fence sur- ,_

' rounding the owner controlled area, a guard reportedly observed two young men out- !Er side the fence. The guard called for reinforcements and when they arrived, the two

== young men had disappeared in the underbrush. The Zion police were called and search-( ed the general ar'ea but no suspects were apprehended. Notification of this situation was made to the Commonwealth Edison Load Dispatcher. IE:III has notified the Chicago Field Office FBI and the Explosives Ordinance Detachment (EDO) Team at Fort Sheridan, Illinois.

No press release is planned.

Region III received notification of this occurrence by telephone from J. S. Bitel, Zion Station Plant Manager at 0745 on 9/2/75.
