} This refers to the special inspection of a Balance of Plant system conducted by
Mr. J. M. Jacobson and other NRC staff members on October 19-23, 1987, of
activities at Zion Station, Units 1 and 2, authorized by NRC Operating Licenses
No. DPR-39 and No. DPR-48 and to the discussion of our findings with Mr. T. J.
Maiman and others of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas exartined during
the inspection. Within these areas, the ins e ction consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.
Within the scope of this inspection, no items of concern were identified.
However, the team members did identify strengths and weaknesses which are
summarized within the report for your consideration.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Corrmission's regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC
Public Document Room.
