Gentlemen:

This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. J. R. Boardman of this office

during the periods of May 18-22 and June 2-5, 1987, of activities authorized by

NRC Operating License NPF-42 for the Wolf Creek Generating Station, and to the

discussion of our findings with you and other members of your staff at the

conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during the inspection included the licensee corrective action

program. Within this area, the inspection consisted of selective examination

of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and

observations by the NRC inspector.

The inspection findings are documented in

the enclosed inspection report.

Three unresolved items are identified in paragraphs 2.a.(1)(b), 2.a.(4)(a), and

2.a.(4)(b) of the enclosed inspection report.

Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were

identified.

A response is requested within 60 days identifying all additional actions that

you have taken, and are planning for the three unresolved items; for the open

items identified in report Sections 2.a.(1)(a), 2.a.(1)(b), 2.a.(3), 2.b., 2.d.,

2.e., and 2.f.; and for the audit findings discussed in Section 2.g.

Should you have any questions concerning this inspection, we will be pleased to

discuss them with you.
