The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by OIE staff as of 11:45 a.m. On the date of this notification. Subject:

BOMB THREAT Carolina Power and Light Company notified the Region II Office c' Inspection and Enforcement by telephone that the construction switch-board operator at the site receive'd a bomb threat at 7:05 a.m., July 14, 1975. A low scratchy male voice said "I placed a bomb in the Turbine Building before the rates go up." At the time of the bomb threat the Unit 2 reactor was shutdown (Unit 1 is under construction). EsE=

Site evacuation and bomb threat procedures were initiated. Two suspicious items were found in the Turbine Building. .The brunswick k- County Sheriff, the FBI and the bomb squad from Fort Bragg, N. C.

were notified. The bomb squad determined the two suspicious objects were trash. An all clear signal was given at 11:20 a.m. An FBI agent and the Sheriff's Department are investigating.

This occurrence is likely to generate some local news coverage because of contacts with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Department.
