Dear Mr. Andrews:
In a letter dated July 13,1998, which is enclosed, you requested information regarding the mailing list for NRC correspondence associated with the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station. You asked how certain organizations were placed on the list to receive NRC correspondence and how another organization or individual could be placed on the list to receive copies of correspondence.
l Ms. Deborah B. Katz; Jonathan M. Block, Esquire; and Mr. Michael J. Daley are on the mailing list because they have filed Petitions pursuant to 10 CFR 2.206 requesting certain actions be taken with regard to Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station. While these Petitions are being reviewed, the NRC has decided to place these individuals on the mailing list until cur final decision has been made on the Petitions.
Other organizations or individuals may request to be placed on the mailing list. However, the NRC does not normally place members of the public or other organizations on the mailing list for NRC correspondence due to the excessive cost for duplication and mailing. Documents are made available in the local public document room at Brooks Memorial Library,224 Main Street, l
Brattleboro, VT 05301. In addition, proposed license amendments are published for comment in the Federal Register.
I have enclosed for your information a pamphlet on the public petition process (Section 2.206).
