Dear Mr. Hukill:
SUBJECT:
SAFETY EVALUATION RELATING TO GENERIC LETTER 83-28, ITEM 2.2 (PART 1)
FOR TMI-1 (TAC 53724)
The purpose of this letter is to document our review of your efforts to satisfy the requirements of Generic Letter 83-28, Item 2.2 " Equipment Classification (Program for all Safety-Related Components)," for TMI-1..
In Generic Letter 83-28, Item 2.2 (Part 1) the' licensee was required to describe in considerable detail their program for classifying all safety-related compo-nents other than Reactor Trip System components as safety-related on documents and in information handling systems that are used to control plant activities that may affect these components. You have responded and our review of your responses as documented in the enclosed contractor's report (EG&G-NTA-7326)' finds the responses to Generic Letter 83-28 Item 2.2 (Part 1).to be acceptable. The enclosed SER documents our concurrence with the' contractor's findings and also finds your responses for this item to be acceptable. We therefore consider Part 1 of Item 2.2 to be closed by this action.
i Generic Letter 83-28 Item 2.2 and its associated TAC number remains open because l
the Vendor Interface portion (Part 2) of this item has not been resolved. The l
staff is reviewing your submittal of August 5, 1985 in this regard.
If you have questions on this issue, please direct them to the licensing project manager, Gordon E. Edison.
l l
Sincerely.
