The NRC staff is reviewing the System Energy Resources, Inc. letter dated 1

June 29, 1987 which requested an exemption from certain requirements in Appendix A to 10 CFR 20 to allow credit for a radiciodine protection factor of 50 when using the Mine Safety Appliances GMR~I canister for respiratory protec-

~ tion. Additional information as described in the enclosure is needed to com-plete the staff's review.

In order to meet our review schedule the information should be provided by August 21, 1987.

If you cannot meet this date, please contact me.

The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L. 9e-511.
