3)

Reactor Coolant System The Reactor Building Atmosphere sampling capability was tested by

.STP (Special1 Test-Procedure) 432 and; verified the system functioned properly.- The procedurevis undergoing results review / approval.

The Decay Heat. System sampling capability was tested by"STP.430.

Two-Non Conformance-Reports were written.on the sample 1 dilution l

L acceptance criteria.

The NCRs, which have been dispositioned and t.

approved, accepted the sample dilution results.

The test has'been l

placed in the results review cycle.

The-test demonstrated.the l

ability;to-draw a Decay Heat System. sample, analyze.the sample for l

boron and chloride, dilute the sample.and transfer the sample to-l a grab sample' flask and the; Intrinsic. Germanium Element-(IGE).

,l The inline conductivity and pH instrumentation will be. tested with-

)

STP.1131 (Liquid Sample Depressurization and Total Gas. Test).

l

_j The Reactor Coolant System sampling capability will be. tested by STP.

433 which is:en hold.pending incorporation of initial Test 1 Working Group (TWG). comments.

The procedure will be rewritten based the-lL l

resultsJof STP.430 but it will.not be performed luntil'the reactor is l

at:15% power so that the' liquid' sample will'be at~its maxiumum l

temperature.. The ability of the system to depressurize and degas l

a liquid sample will be' tested by STP.ll31.in mid November and STP.

433 will be used to verify the ability.to cool the sample.

-l SYSTEM-MODIFICATIONS There:are a total of seven open Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) of which four are work complete and three are in progress.

The status of each is as follows:

1)

Work Complete i

A-4711I ADD BACKUP SOURCE OF FLUSH AND COOLING WATER l

Release of this ECN is pending performance of STP.433.

R-0381 ADD DHS SAMPLE CHECK VALVES

' Release of this ECH is pending valve in-service leak checks with the RCS at normal temperature / pressure.

R-0488 HYDROGEN MONITOR / PASS SAMPLE LINE HEAT TRACING Release of this ECN is pending approval of STP.793 (Heat Tracing Functional Test) test results.

R-0559 SAMPLE COLLECTION.'AND. ANALYSIS. SKID'(SCAS) CHANGES:

The only work pending is the installation.of lighting' in the vicinity'of the SCAS.

However additional changes to the SCAS are. anticipated as a result of!

system testing.

Final release of the ECN11s pending performance of STP.433.

Two additional minor.ECNs are to be. created.

One will relocate the nitrogen bottles used for system flushing.and dilution-to the same;

^ room containing the PASS control panel..The second will' replace 1the.

backup flush / dilution water' conductivity' indicator and domineralizer,.

STP.426. SAMPLING TIMES USING THE PASS The~ procedure has been written and will enter the review /

l

<l approval cycle upon approval of P4SS Operating Procedures l'

CHM-6001 (liquid sampling) and CHM-6005 (containment atmosphere sampling).

CHM-6001 and CHM-6005 replace the-old procedure AP.313-1.

STP.426 will measure the times required to perform these two procedures ~.

STP.428 MEASURMENT OF (SCAS) VOLUMES A AND B Development of Revision 3 to this procedure is in progress. l The procedure is in word processing and is expected to l

enter the review / approval cycle by 10/28/87.

l STP.793 HYDROGEN MONITOR / PASS HEAT TRACING FUNCTIONAL TEST This proce+:re was. performed but there was some difficulty in meeting the acceptance criteria.

The test is on hold pending the results of a Non Conformance Report written l

l on the test acceptance criteria.

. TRAINING

P All Chemistry' Technicians have received.four hours of formal class-room training.

.When procedures CHM-8001 (PASS liquid sampling) and

. CHM-6005 (PASS;containanent atmosphere sampling) are-approved, six.

Chemistry Technicians will initially be given hands-on training.

The two procedures ~have'been-reviewed and are in the final approval'.

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE 3

- The FM program has.been reviewed by the PM Supervisor.

A list of instruments not currently'in the program was developed and will'be used to'complie the necessary information to complete the PM 7 requirements. -Program development is.in progress.

l I4 SPARE-PARTS Nuclear l Engineering' developed a list of spare parts and submitted it

-to the Procurement Group.

The majority of those parts are on order.

The orderLfor a portion of the parts is on hold pending' additional j

ordering information.

NRC INSPECTION NO. 87-26 Action has been taken on two items of concern expressed at this and previous inspections.

The first item, NUPAC Shipping Cask labeling, I

has:been closed, and the second item concerns lead blanket shielding.

PASS LEAD BLANKET SHIELDING

.The lead blankets have been labeled as-permanent shielding.

.i Small cable will be used to tie the blankets together and when that is done this item will be complete.
