NOTICE OF VIOLATION

Dear Mr. Myers:

I On June 4,1998, the NRC completed a routine safety inspection at your Perry Nuclear Power

Plant. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.

, During this B-week inspection period, your conduct of activities at the Perry facility was .

l~ characterized by conservative operation of the plant and prompt resolution of emergent

equipment issues. We are concemed,' however, about three violations of NRC requirements

L identified during the inspection. The violations and other concems described in this report

represent six examples of failure to follow plant procedures. This concem was observed across

multiple departments.
_ These violations are cited in the enclosed Notice of Violation (Notice), and the circumstances

surrounding the violations are described in detail in the enclosed report. Please note that you are

, required to respond to this letter and should follow the instructions specified in the enclosed

Notice when preparing your response. The NRC will use your response, in part, to determine

whether further enforcement action is necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory

l requirements.
