EQUIPMENT QUA'.IFICATION INSPECTION 0F GRAND GULF NUCLEAR PLANT.
(NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-416/87-32)
This' letter confirms the dates of December 14-18, 1987, for the NRC equipment 1
qualification (EQ) inspection for Grand ' Gulf.
These dates were established during a telephone conversation with Mr. J. G. Cesare of your staff and 1
Mr. H. Dance of this office on October 30, 1987.
The inspection will take place at the plant site.
l A management entrance meeting is scheduled for 1:00 on December 14, 1987, with a management exit meeting tentatively scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on December 18, 1987, both at the plant site.
A plant walkdown inspection of specific EQ-equipment is planned for December 16, 1987, and will require escorted service by knowledgeable EQ personnel of your organization.
The inspection will include but not be limited +.o the following:
1.
Review of your implementation of 10 CFR 50.49 EQ program, including.
j preservation of qualified status of equipment.
2.
Review of your implementation of Technical Evaluation Report / Safety Evaluation Report EQ corrective action commitments.
3.
Review of EQ documentation files including all supporting calculations and performance characteristics (including instrument and loop accuracies, variation in current, voltage, frequency and other electrical characteristics that could impact the qualification). Additional details for auditability of EQ records are specified in IE Notice 85-39.
4.
Physical inspection of equipment from the Master List.
At least two weeks prior to the inspection we will require one copy.of each document' identified in the enclosure with a plus (+) mark.
