' NOTICE 0F VIOLATION Carolina' Pcwer and Light Company Docket Nos. 50-325 and 50-324 Brunswick'1 and 2 ' License Nos. DPR-71 and DPR '

. During the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)- inspection conducted on September 1 - 30, 1987, a violation of NRC requirements was identified. The violation involved an inadequate surveillance procedure.- In accordance with the " General Statement of Policy and Procedure.for NRC Enforcement Actions," 10 CFR Part 2 Appendix C (1985), the violation is listed below: l l

Technical Specification 6.8.1.c requires. written procedures be established j for surveillance activitiet of . safety-related equipment.

Procedure PT-12.2.b, No. 2 Diesel Generator-Monthly Load Test, Revision 29, covers surveillance testing of the safety-related No. 2 diesel generator.

Contrary to.the above, written surveillance procedures were. inadequately established in that, on September 29, 1987, no restoration line-up was required in PT-12.2.bito restore temperature control valves MUD-TCV-2155 and LO-TCV-2054 to the position required by the diesel generator operating procedure.

This is a Severity Level V violetion (Supplement 1).

H letter transmitting including (for eachthis Notice, a (1) violation): written statement admission or explanation or denial in reply (2) of the violation, the reasons for the violation if admitted, (3) the corrective steps which have been taken and the 'results achieved, (4) the corrective steps which will be .{

taken to avoid further. violations, and (5) the date when full compliance will i be- achieved. Where good cause is shown, consideration will be given to -l extending the response time. '
