' Mode 5, TVA requested staff review and approval:before repairing the valve. i This' submittal was discussed and clarified in phone calls with:the staff.on October 16 and 19,1987.

Based on its review, as discussed in the enclosed.safetyJevaluation, the staffl -

concludes that'it'is acceptable'for you to-render the RHR system inoperable for ,
