This refers to the routine safeguards inspection conducted by Mr. G. C. Smith
of.this office on August' 10-14, 1987 at Three Mile Island Nuclear Station,
-Units 1 and 2 of activities authorized by NRC License Nos. DPR-50 and DPR-73
and to the discussions of our findings held by Mr. Smith with yourself and
GPUN staff members at the conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during.this inspection are described in the NRC Region I
Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the-
inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures'and' representative
records, interviews with personnel, and observations by'the inspectors.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.
,
Paragraphs 13 and 17 of the enclosed inspection. report lcontain details of your
security program that have been determined to be exempt from public disclosure
in accordance with 10 CFR 73.21-(Safeguards Information).
Therefore, they will
nn be placed in the NRC Public Document Room and will receiveilimited
o!s ribution.
This letter and the remainder of the inspection report will
be'placed in the Pu'olic Document. Room, in accordance with.10 CFR 2.790(a).
