September 20, 1976 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT-PNS-76-53 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.

Subject:
Bomb Threat A bomb threat was received at the security guard house at 8:30 p.m.
on 9/19/76.
The caller was identified as an adult male who gave a very brief threat.
A search was initiated and nothing was found.
Local and.sta,te law enforcement officials were notified.
The FBI is to be notified MEM today, 9/20/76. Five other similar threats have been received at
~
North Anna in 1976. North Anna Unit No. 1 is apprordmately 93%
complete and Unit 2 is nearing 76% completion.
A press release is not planned by the licensee or NRC.
OIE received notification of the occurrence by telephone from the Plant Manager, a.t approximately 8:45 p.m. 9/19/76.
The IAT has been notified.
