The infonnation presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.

PROPOSED PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION AT ZION STATION The Zion Station Security Officer advised Region III at 0940 on August 23., 1976, that a " peaceful" demonstration is scheduled for today between the hours of 1200 and 1230 CDT by a group called the

" Continental Walk for Disarmament and Social Justice." The group, reported as seven in number, will be addressed by one Eckard Festag, Chief Chicago Researcher for Friends of the Earth.

A news article from the August 21, 1976, issue of the Waufcega'n News-Sut'  !?=J (copy attached) describes the demonstration and background of the group.

  1. The Zion Police and Zion Station personnel have established precaution-ary measures to assure the demonstration remains " peaceful."
