October 14, 1976 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT--
PNS-76-60 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.
Facility: Virginia Electric and Power Company North Anna Power Station [yg3yg,go33g Subj ect:
B0MB THREAT A telephone call was received at the Stone and Webster switchboard at 9:05 p.m. on 10/13/76.
The caller was identified as an adult female who stated that her husband had heard that a bomb was planted in Unit 1 containment and would go off within 8 hours9.259259e-5 days <br />0.00222 hours <br />1.322751e-5 weeks <br />3.044e-6 months <br />.
A second bomb threat was made at 2:20 p.m. on 10/14/76, with a statement that a bomb was set to go off.
"S A search was conducted and nothing was found. Local and state law en-forcement officials, along with the FBI have been notified. A total of twelve similar bomb threats have been received at North Anna in 1976.
A press release is not planned by the licensee or NRC.
NRC Region II (Atlanta) received notification of the occurrence by tele-g phone from the Acting Superintendent, Station Operations at 3i25 p.m. and r
at 4:00 p.m., 10/14/76.
