PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION ens utMPT FROM PUBLIC DISCLOSURE PURSUANT TO 10 CFR 2.790(d) g October 18, 1976 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT--
PNS-76-61 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance. The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.

BOMB THREAT Two bomb threats were received by the Louisa County Sheriff on 10/15/76.
The first call, from an adult male, was received at 1019 hours0.0118 days <br />0.283 hours <br />0.00168 weeks <br />3.877295e-4 months <br /> and reported that 12 bombs had been placed at North Anna and were scheduled to go off by Tuesday.
The caller said the bombs were "all over the place." The call was traced (the first suce'essful tracing) to a pay phone in Mineral,-
Virginia. No suspects were identified.
5 The second call was received at 1042 hours0.0121 days <br />0.289 hours <br />0.00172 weeks <br />3.96481e-4 months <br /> from an adult female. The caller said that there are "some bombs" at the plant and to get the people off site.
The sheriff's department employee who answered the phone thought the call was from a private phone (because some line noise characteristics peculiar to pay phones in the area were absent) but the trace was unsuccessful. A search of the plant was conducted f
but no bombs were found. All appropriate law enforcement officials r
were notified.

Searches will be performed but there will normally be no evacuation.
Signs are being posted throughout the plant announcing this policy and noting that telephone tracing equipment will be used.
