Request for Additional Information (RAI) on the First 10-Year Interval Inservice Inspection (ISI)

Request for Relief 97-004 A.

Scope / Status of Review Paragraph 2 incorrectly references the applicable edition of the Code for McGuire as the 1983 Edition through Summer 1983 Addenda of ASME Code Section XI.

The applicable edition of the Code for McGuire is the 1980 Edition through 1980 Winter Addenda of ASME Code Section XI.

B. Additional Information Required Question:

Provide the date (month / year) that the RPV weld examinations in Part 1 of the request for relief were performed.

Response

The RPV examinations referenced under Request for Relief 97-004 were performed October 15"' through October 30"' 1991.

Question:

Provide the staff with the status of the augmented reactor pressure vessel examinations required by 10 CFR 50.55a(g) (6) (ii) (A).

Discuss the implementation schedule for the augmented RPV examinations as well as the augmented examination coverages obtained for each Item Bl.10 weld at the McGuire Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1.

Response

Request for Alternative Examination M97-002 was submitted to the NRC by letter dated July 10 1997.
