Attached is relief request Number 9 on preservice examination of equipment supports that cnuld not be completed in accordance with ASME Section XI due to inaccessibility. gives the applicable code years and addenda, basis for relief and the alternative examination. lists the applicable supports. provides other pertinent information.
It should be noted that a high percentage, 72 percent, of the total popul ation (11) of equipment supports were inspected at 75 percent or more of full code examination.

. supports were identified where a full code examination could not be completed.
The applicable supports are shown.in the attached list.

Full code examinations.could not be completed due to physical impediments.
Section XI figures describing examination requirements do not recognize actual as-built configurations or metallurgical constraints sich interfere with visual examination.
Inspections were performed at the maximum percentage practicable as shown in the attached listing.
Alternative Examination:
The required weld volume was examined to the maximum extent practicable.
