PENETRATION OF SECURITY TO BE ATTEMPTED A FPL Commericial Manager in Staurt, Florida was notified by a newspaper ,

friend that a local citizen and a member of the Martin County Conservation l Alliance Group, also affiliated with the Citizens United Against Radio-active Environment (CURE) had informed him that the Group trould attempt' (today) to penetrate the security of St. Lucie 1. Information was that ~~s l

the penetration would probably come from the river side of the facility.

t The stated purpose of the attempted penetration is to discredit the

security of nuclear facilities.

Additional security measures of the facility have been implemented, which includes additional security personnel. The St. Lucie County Sheriff and FBI have been notified by FPL. The constructor of Unit 2 (adjacent to Unit 1) has also been notified of the planned penetration.

p St. Lucie 1 achieved initial criticality at 8:30 a.m. today (4/22/76). /

OIE received notification of this event from the Plant Superintendent 2-at 12:40 p.m., April 22, 1976.
