A Atomic Power Company (CYAPC0) requested relief from performing a system hydro-static test of the service water system and the reactor coolant pump seal water:
return system, respectively, at test pressures in conformance with the re of the 1980 Edition through Winter 1980 Addenda, Subparagraph IWA-5265(b)quiremen Section XI of the ASME Code.
The staff has completed its review of the CYAPC0 request and its supporting-information and has concluded that relief may be granted from the requirements

referenced above. A copy of our Safety Evaluation is' enclosed.
Having evaluated the'CYAPC0 determination that the. specific code requirements are impractical, the staff concludes that granting the requested. relief is authorized by law and will not endanger life or property, or the common defense and security, j]
and is otherwise in.the public interest.considering the burden that-could result upon Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company if these requirements were imposed on.the' Haddam Neck Plant. Accordingly, pursuant to 10 CFR;50.55a(g)(6) of the j
Commission's regulations, Connecticut Yankee-Atomic' Power Company is granted j
relief from the inservice inspection requirements of Subparagraph IWD 5223(a) j
'of Section XI of the ASME Code as it relates to the hydrostatic' testing of.the
]
service water and reactor coolant pump seal water return systems.
